Job description

Clinical Research Training Fellow (Fixed Term), Cambridge

Applications are invited for Clinical Research Training Fellowships leading to a PhD. The Fellowships are available to medically-qualified individuals undertaking their specialist training in any clinical discipline, aiming for an academic career in cancer research. Eligibility to practice clinically within the UK is essential. Fellowships for 2025 are to be held in member research groups of the CRUK Cambridge Centre.

Applicants will select their preferred projects (first and second choices). Short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews to discuss their career intentions and PhD project preferences.

The Fellowship award depends on obtaining an offer of admission as a PhD student at the University of Cambridge.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed during the week commencing 6 January 2025 by a panel of Principal Investigators from the CRUK Cambridge Centre. Candidates will have the opportunity to visit relevant departments or institutes for their chosen projects. Informal interactions with Principal Investigators and laboratories before the formal interview are encouraged.

Fellowships typically start on 1 October 2025 and are initially funded for 3 years.

This position requires an Honorary Clinical Contract, an integrated appointment between the University and the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Employment is contingent on the continuation of contracts with both entities.
