Research Scientist – Oncology (In Vivo) | Loughborough, UK

Are you passionate about making a real difference in cancer research? We’re looking for a Research Scientist to join our Oncology In Vivo team in Loughborough. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a highly motivated and forward-thinking environment, where your expertise will directly contribute to vital scientific discoveries.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Carrying out clinical observations to monitor animal health and welfare, ensuring early detection of any issues.
• Supporting the daily welfare checks and care of animals, in line with strict ethical and regulatory guidelines.
• Generating high-quality data and reports to support research projects.
• Training and mentoring colleagues on experimental procedures to maintain best practices.
• Maintaining a clean, sterile working environment and ensuring high standards of facility management.
• Reviewing and updating processes to improve efficiency and maintain compliance.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in animal handling, dosing, sampling, and surgical techniques (such as anaesthesia, suturing, and PDX models).
• Strong understanding of welfare assessment and clinical signs recording.
• Familiarity with the Home Office Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
• Confident using MS Office Suite and laboratory management systems like LIMS/Study Log.
• Someone with great attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently.
• A flexible approach to work, including some weekend and out-of-hours availability.
