Job description

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a 50% FTE 12-month postdoctoral clinical research associate position within the Williams-Gray lab. The lab works at the interface of clinical and laboratory science, aiming to better understand the clinical and biological heterogeneity of Parkinson's disease, and to develop new therapeutic strategies targeted to different patient subgroups.

The successful candidate will contribute to an expanding program of research investigating the role of immune activation in the progression of Parkinson's disease. The position will primarily involve investigating inflammatory and immune-related markers in bio samples collected through clinical cohort studies and trials, with the aim of determining how the inflammatory profile is linked to disease heterogeneity and responsiveness to immune-modulating therapies. The postholder will also participate in the Cambridge Parkinson's Research Clinic. They will have the opportunity to develop clinical and research skills to underpin their own research and will be supported in the development of funding applications to support their career progression.

The postholder will work within a close clinical and scientific team of research assistants, PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and clinicians. They will be expected to work in a team environment and to support and contribute to collaborative projects.

The position is particularly suitable for early career researchers in academic neurology. Applications will be considered from GMC-registered Medical Practitioners with experience in clinical neurology at greater than ST3 level, who hold a PhD in clinical neuroscience/biological sciences. Experience in clinical trials is desirable.
