Are you a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for making meaningful change in the lives of children and young people?

Are you looking for a role where you can truly embed trauma-informed, attachment-focused care — and be resourced to do it well?

This could be the role you’ve been looking for.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join us in supporting Vista Residential Living, a new specialist provider of therapeutic children’s homes in the Wirral. This is a pivotal role where you’ll lead on embedding our Attachment and Trauma Informed Care (ATIC) model - with time and space to do it properly.

You’ll work across two small therapeutic homes (one newly opened, another launching in 2025), supporting up to 6 children and young people aged 8–17 with complex trauma, relational needs, and emotional/behavioural difficulties.

This is a role for someone who thrives in an integrated, system-aware, reflective practice environment. You’ll lead reflective practice, deliver supervision, train staff, guide risk planning, hold a small therapy caseload, and provide systemic consultation - supported by a highly experienced and values-driven team.

Why Join MCTS?

MCTS is a Social Enterprise - we exist to reinvest in creating better care for children, young people and families. We’re the trusted partner of independent care providers who want to deliver truly therapeutic residential care.

We’re clinician-led, mission-driven, and passionate about doing things differently.

Smaller, more manageable caseloads

Hybrid working (2–3 days on site, rest from home)

Resources and time to deliver the work properly

A genuine opportunity to shape services from the ground up

“I was initially nervous about leaving the NHS, but at MCTS I feel valued, resourced, and empowered. I’ve been able to deliver care in a way that’s meaningful - both for young people and for me as a clinician.”Clinical Psychologist, MCTS
What You’ll Do
  • Lead weekly reflective practice groups for residential care teams
  • Facilitate quarterly integrated clinical assessments & formulation meetings
  • Write therapeutic support plans and reports
  • Deliver trauma-informed training and consultancy for care staff
  • Provide supervision to home managers and Assistant Psychological Practitioners
  • Hold a small caseload of young people for direct therapeutic work
  • Lead risk planning and Red/Amber State meetings
  • Support whole-system change using the ATIC framework
What We’re Looking For
  • HCPC-registered (or soon-to-be) Clinical Psychologist
  • Significant experience working in residential, inpatient or complex children’s services
  • Skilled in systemic consultation, team support and trauma-informed practice
  • Confident and compassionate leader with a collaborative style
Even Better If You Have…
  • Training in specialist modalities (e.g. DDP, EMDR, CAT, DBT, CBT, systemic therapy)
  • Experience delivering training or supervision to mixed-skill teams
  • A strong grounding in Attachment and Trauma Informed Care principles
What You’ll Get
  • £45K–£55K salary depending on experience
  • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
  • Hybrid working model
  • CPD opportunities + protected development time
  • Monthly reflective practice and peer supervision
  • Pension + Enhanced DBS (paid for)
  • A workplace that values people, purpose and growth
