Job description

Job summary

We have an exciting post available for qualified and HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologists with neuropsychological assessment skills to join our countywide Memory Assessment Service (MAS). Posts are advertised at Band 8a; however, we welcome applicants who are approaching qualification, newly qualified, or if you are interested in a preceptorship arrangement. We may also be able to provide up to full time hours within the Older People Care Unit.

The Memory Assessment Service is part of the Older People Care Unit, where psychologists are highly valued and form part of wider multidisciplinary teams, including other psychological professionals in some areas (i.e., CBT Therapists and Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners).

We frequently come together as a wider psychology department for meetings, CPD, regular away days, and time out sessions. In addition, the Care Unit promotes the importance of professional development. We have recently been able to provide access to post-qualification specialist training and would be committed to supporting, empowering, and developing you as an individual. You would also become part of a wider network of psychological professionals across the Trust, facilitated by an Associate Director for Psychological Professions, with regular opportunities to connect.

Main duties of the job

MAS provides mainly clinic-based assessment and interventions for people over the age of 65 experiencing changes in cognition where a diagnosis of dementia is suspected. The Service has strong links with the Young Onset Dementia team (YOD), Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT), and the Intensive Home Treatment Teams (IHTT).

Clinical work within the team will include completing specialised neuropsychological assessment and supporting the delivery of psychologically informed care, care planning, and supporting MDT colleagues through case discussions, MDT meetings, supervision, and training. This would usually be within identified geographical areas within Nottinghamshire.

You will work closely with service users, carers, and colleagues within the Team and across the Older People Care Unit to deliver high quality care and support service developments. We have excellent relationships with local professional training courses and academic institutions, which also provides further research, supervision, and teaching opportunities.
