Clinical Psychologist/Psychotherapist

We are seeking a Psychotherapist/Clinical Psychologist to join the Specialist Psychotherapy Service, Mood, Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Service (MAPPS). We offer a city-wide tertiary level service to people experiencing long-term or recurring difficulties related to depression, anxiety disorders and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

We are seeking an additional therapist to compliment the diverse range of psychotherapy modalities with an evidence base in this area, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Schema therapy, Group Analytic, Gestalt Psychotherapy, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).

As our longest waits are for trauma focused approaches, we are seeking a trauma focused therapist (e.g. EMDR and CBT). Candidates must have completed/be near completion of, relevant training in these approaches. The ability to work with one additional therapy modality is desirable.

We provide psychotherapeutic interventions, consultation and advice, alongside specialist education, training and research. The team is based at The Fitzwilliam Centre and has been awarded APPTS accreditation (the Accreditation Programme for Psychological Therapies Services) from the Royal College of Psychiatry. We have also been shortlisted for a Health Service Journal (HSJ) Patient Safety Award for our waiting time improvement work.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist clinical psychology/psychotherapy service to service users of the MAPPS team.

To provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering highly specialised advice and consultation on service users' psychological care to psychologist/therapist colleagues, non-colleagues and to other, non-professional carers.

In common with all Clinical Psychologists/Psychotherapists, to receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with good practice.

To contribute to the work of the team through regular participation in team meetings, governance and team development slots.

To contribute to team working groups, for example, around developing our co-production strategy, inclusivity, staff well-being or outcome measures.

To take sole professional responsibility and exercise autonomous professional and clinical judgement within the overall framework of Trust, HCPC/BPS/BABCP/RCN or other accrediting organisation as appropriate and other policies/guidelines/standards.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team.

This permanent post is based at the Fitzwilliam Centre. The post involves working as part of the MDT providing highly specialised evidence-based psychological therapies to people with complex anxiety, mood disorders and PTSD. The role involves direct clinical work with service users and their families/carers providing psychological interventions for people who require highly specialised psychological therapies and for whom there has been an inadequate response to first line interventions, or for whom these interventions are not appropriate.

You will need to have an enthusiasm for, and experience of working with service users with complex needs, as well as experience of and a respect for working in multidisciplinary teams.

It is a really exciting time for the service as we are working upon developing links with service user groups in order to shape and develop care pathways and to improve interfaces between mental health services and 3rd sector organisations. The post holder will contribute to these areas of development and will play a key role in the delivery of psychotherapeutic interventions to service users, their families and carers. The role will also involve complex assessments, formulation and contributing to a consultation service to other services. Training and Qualifications

• Post-graduate, doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and/or BPS o Registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC OR o Post-graduate Diploma qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Or Completion of specialist training in CAT o Full accreditation with BABCP for CBT OR o Recognised qualification as a High Intensity IAPT CBT therapist and o Full accreditation with BABCP for CBT A/I www.hpcuk.org/check A/I Check HCPC; NMC Register Evidence of a postgraduate diploma in CBT A/I Check BABCP Register Evidence of certificate and registration Working together for service users Respect & kindness Everyone counts Commitment to quality Improving lives OR o Post-graduate diploma or qualification in a recognised NHS psychotherapy model such as DBT, CAT, CBT, Psychodynamic or EMDR and accredited by a professional body.

Knowledge and skills

• Well-developed, high-level skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to service users, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS

Experience
