Job description

Are you an experienced Clinical Psychologist looking for a rewarding career where you can make a difference and change lives for the better? You will be working 22.5 hours per week as a Part-time Clinical Psychologist at Pinhoe View, a 36-bed Acute Inpatient Hospital in Exeter, and enjoy support from a regional network of healthcare professionals.

You will be leading the psychology department and working alongside members of the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) to offer patient-centred care, implementing daily, meaningful activities which can support recovery.

This entails competently assessing unwell service users, including completing assessments, planning and implementing person-centred interventions, and the ongoing evaluation of their care and treatment.

You will be required to oversee the provision of the psychology service, as well as supporting the team in facilitating assessment and formulation interventions and psychology groups in collaboration with the team.

As a Psychologist, you will be:

  • Participating in the assessment of referrals and providing initial assessment for service users referred to the service.
  • Undertaking high-quality direct (assessment & therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory, and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions and making autonomous clinical decisions.
  • Working therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, undertaking assessments using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methods.
  • Formulating and implementing plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of patients’ mental health needs based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence-based best practice.
  • Being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care.
  • Maintaining high standards of care in all areas of practice and in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines, and Company Policies and Procedures.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • BPS recognised psychology degrees
  • HCPC registration
  • Understanding of evidence-based psychological practice
  • Experience of applying psychological knowledge to a clinical setting
  • Experience working with clients with cognitive deficits
  • Previous experience of conducting research and project work

Location: Pinhoe View, College Way, EXETER, EX1 3P

Pinhoe View is a purpose-built facility where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards.

The 24-hour acute inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team, which specialises in the assessment, treatment, and stabilisation of people suffering from a significant mental health episode and in crisis.
