Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 31/03/2026

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our supportive Paediatric psychology team to serve the needs of young people and their families with acute and long-term health conditions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant, friendly and supportive psychology team in the Paediatric Department at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. We have Clinical Psychologists working in the Paediatric specialties of Diabetes, NICU, Epilepsy, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and Childhood Obesity; with ambition to expand.

We are seeking a psychologist to work within several paediatric specialties, including paediatric epilepsy. This is a fixed-term position and the funding for this post ends on the 31/3/26 and cannot be extended.

Although this is a band 8A post, they are also open to newly qualified psychologists at a band 7. Newly qualified staff who are yet to be HCPC registered will be temporarily appointed at Band 6. Experience in Paediatrics is desirable but not absolutely necessary, and a passion for working with children, young people and their families is essential.

Main duties of the job

The post will include work with children, young people and their families on psychological issues, such as the impact of the health condition and the challenges associated with managing this. This will include outpatient and inpatient assessment and therapy for families, as well as offering advice, consultation and training to the wider team. Being a strong team player is essential, working well as an integrated part of different multidisciplinary teams, consisting of medical consultants, specialist nurses, dieticians and physiotherapists. The post will require communication in a skilled and sensitive manner with both families and the wider MDT.
