Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist to join our Early Supported Discharge (ESD) stroke service within the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust Department of Psychological Medicine. This is a permanent 0.7 WTE post.

Overview

The post holder will be embedded within the Early Supported Discharge team and will deliver a highly specialist clinical psychology / neuropsychology service to patients who have suffered a stroke and their families. The post holder will provide direct assessment and intervention alongside consultation and supervision to the wider team. The post holder will work with patients and families across a range of contexts including acute medical wards and community settings (homes, residential services, community hospitals).

Responsibilities
  • Completing neuropsychological assessments, formulations, and time limited evidence based psychological interventions
  • Ensuring effective risk assessment and management of neuropsychological factors (risks related to mental health and cognitive impairment)
  • Supporting health and well-being outcomes as measured against specific criteria (e.g. quality of life measures, therapy outcome measures/mental health measures)
  • Improve service level psychological care
  • Support timely discharge from acute services
  • Improve patient access to other relevant support services through onward referrals
  • Ensure quality improvements and subsequent achievement of national and local performance outcome measures
About us

The post holder will be fully embedded within the supportive and cohesive Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team, working closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues. In addition, the post holder will sit within the wider Department of Psychological Medicine - an innovative and dynamic team of psychologists and psychiatrists co-located within the medical environment providing services to patients across the lifespan. The department has close links with the Oxford Doctoral Course in Clinical Psychology and regularly contributes to teaching and supervision of trainees.
