Job description

Job Title: Clinical Psychologist (Maternity Cover)

The post is a 9-month fixed-term, 0.4 WTE Band 8a position (maternity cover) within the Department of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology.

Overview

We seek a motivated and dynamic Clinical Psychologist to develop our recently established cancer psychology service for colorectal cancer patients.

Responsibilities
  1. Work alongside a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and five other Clinical Psychologists to deliver a highly specialist level 4 psychology service to colorectal cancer patients at NUH.
  2. Conduct psychological assessments and provide time-limited 1:1 interventions for individuals living with cancer and late treatment effects, including both inpatients and outpatients.
  3. Address a range of presenting problems such as psychological adaptation to serious illness, managing demanding treatments, coping with side and late effects, and making difficult treatment decisions.
  4. Offer supervision, consultation, and training to clinical staff working with colorectal cancer patients.
Support and Location

Clinical supervision will be provided by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, tailored to the experience and needs of the successful candidate. The primary base will be City Campus, NUH, with potential work at the QMC campus.

The department has a strong track record in establishing cancer services, including a highly regarded blood cancer service. It is active in psycho-oncology research and contributes to national initiatives in the field.
