Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. Working closely with the multidisciplinary burns team to offer psychological care to children and adults, and their families, under the care of the burns service

2. Working with children and young people and their families, as well as adults, through consultation with staff, direct work and attending multidisciplinary clinics/meetings

3. Providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy/input, offering advice and consultation to the MDT, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures

4. Utilising research skills for audit, policy and service development and research

5. Providing clinical and professional supervision to trainees undertaking doctoral training, where appropriate

6. Undertaking service development, where required

7. Delivering informal and formal teaching and training as required to the MD

Training and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Completed (or due to complete) post-graduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
  • Current HCPC registration (or eligibility to qualify for registration post-training)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC.
Desirable criteria
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Training in the supervision of other psychological professionals
Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the theory and clinical practice of evidence-based psychological therapies
  • Experience of teaching/training
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an area of adult and/or paediatric clinical health psychology
  • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
  • Experience of assessing trauma reactions and delivering evidence-based trauma-focused interventions
  • Experience of representing clinical psychology within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of delivering clinical supervision

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
