Job Description:
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join BEH CAMHS Single Point of Access (SPOA) as a Clinical Psychologist. This role is suitable for someone passionate about providing high-quality mental health care to support children, young people, and their families.
The purpose of the SPOA is to assess referred children and young people to determine the most appropriate service to meet their needs. The role requires strong clinical and organizational skills. You will support the goals of ‘No wrong Front Door’ and assist the Access Team in identifying the right service at the right time. We use a triage system to assess needs and risks, and offer initial assessments and brief interventions based on the iThrive model. As SPOA works closely with other CAMHS teams, there may be opportunities for cross-team work aligned with your skills and interests.
Main duties of the job
- Coordinate the daily operations of the SPOA team, including screening new referrals and allocating them to clinicians.
- Conduct telephone triages and screenings for referred young people, engaging with families, professionals, and the young people themselves.
- Perform risk assessments and develop management plans via telephone.
- Provide specialist psychological assessments using various tools such as psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, observations, and interviews with clients and families.
- Deliver brief psychological interventions for referred young people and other CAMHS teams.
- Manage and maintain waiting lists for clinical teams within CAMHS.
- Offer advice on clients’ psychological care.
- Work within Trust and professional guidelines, following the CAMHS job plan.
- Promote the use of outcome measures to improve practice and user experience during supervision and team meetings.
- Utilize research skills for practice evaluation and service development as required.
- Participate in co-production and service development initiatives.
Working for our organisation
The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) has been strengthening since 2021, forming the North London Mental Health Partnership.
You may be required to work at different locations within Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, or Camden and Islington Trusts as needed. The Trust reserves the right to assign staff to other locations as necessary, on a temporary or permanent basis.
