If so, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Practitioner Psychologist to work within the Barnet CAMHS generic team based at the Holly Oak Clinic, Edgware Community Hospital.

Barnet CAMHS prides itself in working from a multi-disciplinary approach, informed and embedded within the iThrive Framework. There is a strong focus on further developing clinicians' skillsets and learning from each other. We offer high-quality individual and group supervision, as well as space for reflective practice. There are many CPD opportunities within the team and across BEH; over the last year training has included EMDR, Narrative Exposure Therapy, and ADOS training.

Main duties of the job

The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) is strengthening since its establishment in 2021, forming the North London Mental Health Partnership.

To meet the needs of the new Partnership services, you may be required to work at different locations under Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Trust and Camden and Islington Trust. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments of clients using complex data from various sources, including tests, self-report measures, and interviews.
  • Plan and implement formal psychological treatments and management of mental health issues based on appropriate frameworks and methods of proven efficacy.
  • Implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, adjusting formulations as needed.

Person specification
TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, two or more psychological therapies, and lifespan development psychology, accredited by the BPS.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in psychological assessment and treatment of young people with mental health and learning difficulties across various care settings.
  • Experience working with diverse client groups, handling highly emotive and distressing problems professionally.
  • Minimum of 50 hours of clinical supervision over at least 2 years as a specialist clinical psychologist.
  • Experience collaborating with Social Care Teams.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Skills in complex psychological assessment, intervention, and management requiring sustained concentration.
  • Effective communication skills for conveying complex and sensitive information to clients, families, and professionals.
  • Skills in providing consultation to professional and non-professional groups.
Other
  • Ability to teach and train using multimedia materials.
  • Ability to employ mechanisms of clinical governance and handle highly emotive material and challenging behavior.
