Job Description:

Direct Medics Healthcare Recruitment are seeking a compassionate and skilled Band 8B Clinical Psychologist to join the Community Pain & ME/CFS Service in the Preston area. This is an exciting opportunity to provide a highly specialist psychological service to support and enhance the psychological care of patients with persistent pain as well as supporting and enhancing the work of the Moving Well Pain and ME/CFS multi-disciplinary team.

Contract is up to 3 months initially with both full and part time hours considered. Salary from £58,972 to £68,525 a year pro rata.

In this role, you will:

  1. Jointly plan, deliver and evaluate specialised Pain Management Programmes in a group-based approach in conjunction with other multidisciplinary team members, providing expertise and advice to facilitate effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by all team members.
  2. Assess and manage a caseload of patients with ME/CFS both on a 1:1 basis and also working alongside MDT colleagues, offering a range of high quality, evidence-based psychological interventions, supervision, consultation, teaching and clinical leadership. The applicant will also take a lead role in the delivery of group interventions for individuals with ME/CFS.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
  • An increased level of knowledge relevant to this post equivalent to a post-graduate diploma (in addition to entry level qualification).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS by completion of CPD log demonstrating a minimum of 40 hours per year.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across a range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
  • Substantial assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist at senior level.
  • Full UK Drivers License & Access to a car.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
