Job summary

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust in Oldham CAMHS is recruiting a dedicated clinical psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team and support delivery of mental health services for children, young people and families.

You will conduct psychological assessments, provide evidence-based therapies, and collaborate with psychologists, mental health nurses, SLTs, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and youth workers. We offer supervision, professional development and flexible NHS practices.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent recognized by the British Psychological Society.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience with assessment and therapy for children and families across the age range.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Experience in teaching and training staff in psychological skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions within CAMHS.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team to deliver mental health services for children, young people and families.
• Collaborate with colleagues across psychology, nursing, SLT, psychotherapy, psychiatry and youth services.
• Contribute to staff development and training activities.

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and compassionate clinical psychologist to work in our friendly multidisciplinary team and support the delivery of a mental health and therapy service to the children, young people and families in Oldham.

We are offering a full time permanent position in Oldham CAMHS, based at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

You will get to work alongside a range of disciplines including psychologists, mental health nurses, speech and language therapists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, youth workers , learning disability nurses.

Person specification

Education and qualification

• Doctoral degree or equivalent accepted by the British Psychological Society as qualifying the person to work as a clinical psychologist.
• Current registration with HCPC governing body

Experience

• Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with children and families across the age range.
• Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork
• Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals.
• Experience in teaching and training staff from other professional groups in psychological skills and concepts.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of attachment difficulties in YP and their families / carers

Skills and abilities

• Ability to select, use and interpret a range of psychological measures including cognitive and developmental assessments.
• Ability to formulate clinical problems using psychological theory.
• Good skills in communicating with children, parents and colleagues.
• Ability to cope with stressful interpersonal situations including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the case of highly emotive and distressing problems and the threat of verbal and physical abuse.
