Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Recognised qualification in: Registered Nursing (RMN/RSCN/RNMH), Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Social Work (CQSW/DipSW), or Occupational Therapy.
  • Must be registered with a professional body (e.g., NMC, UKCP, HCPC, BACP).
Experience and Knowledge
  • Experience providing evidence-based assessments, formulations, and treatment packages to children, young people, and families.
  • Experience working with children in paediatric health settings.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary teamwork and consulting with healthcare and other professionals.
  • Knowledge of legislation and guidance related to children’s needs.
  • Experience assessing and managing risk, including safeguarding.
  • Experience managing caseloads in a multidisciplinary mental health setting.
Skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritize own caseload.
  • Skill in selecting, using, and interpreting psychological measures, including cognitive and developmental assessments.
  • Ability to formulate clinical problems using psychological theory.
  • Competence in integrating psychological theories and outcome data into clinical practice.
  • Ability to assess needs, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions with children and parents/carers.
  • Skills in delivering evidence-based interventions.
  • Sensitivity when working with disadvantaged groups.
  • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ages.
  • Effective communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to handle stressful interpersonal situations professionally.
  • Proficiency in using assessment tools and outcome measures collaboratively.

Applicant Requirements

You must hold appropriate UK professional registration. This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) 2020, and a Disclosure check will be required.
