An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Older Peoples' Psychological Service, alongside the Community Mental Health teams, in the East Kent Directorate. This post is suitable for someone interested in working therapeutically with this diverse and rewarding client group. Essential skills include understanding the needs of individuals with mental health difficulties and dementia, and the ability to work with those experiencing cognitive challenges.
We welcome applications from recently qualified Trainee Clinical Psychologists for a Band 7/8a preceptorship role. In this case, the starting point would be band 7, progressing upwards. Please review the band 7 & 8a job description and person specification.
The post holder must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle for work purposes (unless disabled as per the Equality Act 2010).

You will be part of the Older Peoples Psychological Services, working alongside Community Mental Health Teams in South Kent Coast (including Folkestone, Hythe, Dover, and Deal), focusing on Memory services and enhancing psychological care for Older People. The role involves multidisciplinary teamwork with community and inpatient colleagues to provide comprehensive care for older individuals with complex mental health issues and dementia. Experience in neuropsychological assessment for dementia is essential.
You will contribute to key priorities within the service, oversee line management and clinical supervision of qualified and junior staff, and provide consultation to carers, families, and teams. The role includes participating in multidisciplinary staff development and group work.
Responsibilities also include conducting service evaluations and audits across the East Kent Directorate to improve psychological interventions for older adults. Travel to other work locations may be required.

You will work within the Older Peoples Psychological Services, focusing mainly on South Kent Coast Memory services and enhancing psychological interventions for older adults. Your duties will include neuropsychological assessments related to dementia diagnosis, individual and group therapy, and collaboration with families, carers, and external agencies.
