Job description

The role will be split between working within the Training and Development Department for 3 days per week and 2 days with the Getting More Help teams, carrying out duty work.

The educational component of the role will have protected time to design, deliver, and evaluate training and education programmes related to suicide prevention for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The post holder will collaborate with clinical practice educators focusing on suicide prevention to review, implement, and evaluate Trust-wide training initiatives. Teaching methods will include individual coaching, classroom-based training, and online learning. An induction programme within the Learning & Development team will be tailored to the post holder’s experience and training needs. Peer supervision from experienced clinical practice educators will be provided, along with support for developing teaching skills and obtaining a teaching qualification if desired.

The clinical duties will be integrated within the CAMHS Getting More Help Duty service, working alongside the Duty lead and GMH team on a rota basis. The purpose of this duty service is to respond to concerns raised by parents and other professionals regarding deterioration in mental health or increased risk.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Taking a primary role in developing clinical practice staff, including undergraduate students and both registered and non-registered healthcare professionals.
  2. Clinically working with team members to enhance clinical skills, theoretical knowledge, and understanding of practice.
  3. Partnering with senior clinical staff to ensure clinical staff and students are trained in evidence-based interventions aligned with national standards.
  4. Identifying practice development areas and leading the implementation of learning and development solutions.
  5. Facilitating learning in formal and informal settings to support staff development.
  6. Designing, delivering, and evaluating training programmes on various topics.
