We are looking for a committed and organised 8a Clinical Placement Facilitator (CPF) to join our maternity education team at Whipps Cross Hospital, working alongside an existing CPF colleague. Together, you will help shape and support the clinical development of student midwives, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality, compassionate care.
This is a challenging and dynamic role that combines educational leadership with operational management responsibilities, including participation in the on-call rota. You will collaborate with midwives, senior midwifery teams, and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to coordinate placements, identify learning needs, and provide tailored support to students. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring students complete their training confident, competent, and prepared for practice.
A strong clinical background is essential, along with expertise in NICE guidance, fetal monitoring, and obstetric emergencies. The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent communication, coordination, and organisational skills, and can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The role of midwifery Clinical Placement Facilitator is to lead the education and development of all student midwives within maternity services and other learning environments. The individual will work collaboratively and strategically with the Practice Development Midwife
and the Whipps education team, maternity lecturers in linked HEI’s, the Trust Education team and the senior midwifery team to ensure clinical teaching is of the highest standard.
The post holder must be an effective communicator able to confidently deliver lectures and presentations. They must have the skills to support midwives in facilitating student learning in practice. The post holder will need to have effective organisational and management skills to facilitate the needs of various student groups in practice.
