Job description

NHFT is dedicated to making a positive difference and providing compassionate care. We prioritize the person at the centre of everything we do. Rated as outstanding by the CQC, this is a Trust where your work truly makes a difference.

Recently, NHFT redesigned its medicines supply model, bringing the service in-house. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated pharmacist to join our supply service team. This role is ideal for a clinical pharmacist interested in specialising in mental health while maintaining and developing skills in general medicine, or a community pharmacist looking to transition into hospital pharmacy.

You will be part of a friendly, innovative, and supportive pharmacy team delivering a high-quality, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to:

  • Adult and Older People's Mental Health wards
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health wards
  • Community Hospital wards and Palliative care

You will support the dispensary team—comprising pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and assistants—in managing the medicines supply service from Berrywood Hospital. Your responsibilities include coordinating the clinical validation of prescriptions, supporting daily workflow, providing ward-level pharmacy support, attending consultant ward rounds, developing policies and guidelines, conducting audits, and staff training. Mental health experience is desirable but not essential.

As the Clinical Pharmacist for Dispensary and Inpatient Services, your duties will include:

  • Providing pharmaceutical support to inpatient areas and medicines management organization-wide
  • Supporting operational delivery of medicines from Berrywood dispensary
  • Delivering specialist clinical pharmaceutical services to patients with mental health conditions and ensuring the safe, effective use of psychotropic and general medications
  • Supporting the clinical pharmacy service in Community Hospital inpatient areas and providing ad hoc support to hospice inpatient units
  • Identifying and managing risks within medicines management

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health trust providing physical, mental health, and specialty services in hospital and community settings. We focus on accessible care, often delivered at home, work, or in schools. Our services extend to prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
