Job description

Join NHFT as a Clinical Pharmacist

NHFT is dedicated to making a positive difference and providing compassionate care. We prioritize putting the person at the centre of everything we do. Rated as outstanding by the CQC, we are seeking a dynamic and motivated pharmacist to join our expanded medicines supply service team following a recent redesign that brought our medicines supply service in-house.

This role is ideal for either a clinical pharmacist wishing to specialise in mental health while maintaining skills in general medicine or a community pharmacist looking to transition into hospital pharmacy.

About the Team and Service

You will be part of a friendly, innovative, and supportive pharmacy team delivering high-quality, patient-focused clinical pharmacy services to:

  • Adult and Older People's Mental Health wards
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health wards
  • Community Hospital wards and Palliative care

Your role involves supporting the dispensary team at Berrywood Hospital, coordinating clinical validation of prescriptions, managing daily workflow, and providing ward-level pharmacy support and advice. You will also participate in ward rounds, develop policies, conduct audits, and contribute to staff training. Mental health experience is desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver pharmaceutical support to inpatient areas and oversee medicines management organization-wide.
  • Support the operational delivery of medicines from Berrywood dispensary.
  • Provide specialist clinical pharmaceutical services to patients with mental health conditions, ensuring the safe and effective use of psychotropic and general medications.
  • Assist in medicines management in Community Hospital inpatient areas and support hospice inpatient units as needed.
  • Identify and manage risks within medicines management.
