Job summary

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced pharmacist to deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services across community and mental health inpatient wards. You will work with the MDT and be an integral part of the pharmacy team, providing ward-based clinical support and contributing to rota planning.

The post requires GPhC registration, a BPharm/MPharm, and postgraduate qualifications with hospital experience for Band 7. A flexible, proactive attitude is essential.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacist with NHS experience.
  • Postgraduate qualifications and hospital pharmacy experience preferred for Band 7.
  • Demonstrated CPD and independence in clinical interventions.

  • Issue high-quality clinical pharmacy services on community and mental health wards.
  • Collaborate with MDT and participate in the pharmacy rota.
  • Provide medicines information to patients and carers and support governance.

Job description

You will be expected to deliver a consistently high-quality clinical pharmacy service across community and mental health inpatient wards Work alongside the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) Be an integral part of the pharmacy team providing clinical pharmacy support to designated ward(s) and participate in the pharmacy departmental rota's, The must haves for this role:

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist
  • Postgraduate clinical qualification and hospital experience to be considered for band 7
  • Have a flexible approach to work in order to meet the developing needs of the pharmacy service
  • Pharmacy degree (BPharm or MPharm)
  • Postgraduate Pharmacy Certificate or Diploma for band 7
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Member of the Royal College of Pharmacy, Postgraduate Pharmacy Certificate or Diploma for band 6
  • Continuous Professional Development
  • Significant post registration experience in hospital pharmacy for band 7
  • Experience of providing medicines information to patients/carers
  • Experience of audit or project work
  • Supervision of staff for band 7
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and making clinically appropriate interventions for band 7
  • Proven experience of delivering responsibilities and objectives on time, Pre-registration training year in hospital pharmacy
  • Significant post registration experience in hospital pharmacy for band 6
  • Basic experience in mental health inpatient setting
  • Supervision of staff for band 6
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and making clinically appropriate interventions for band 6
  • Experience working within Medicines Information, Excellent interpersonal communication and reporting skills, verbal and written (tact, empathy, negotiation, diplomacy)
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office software with proven computer literacy and IT skills including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases
  • Demonstrate high level of professional autonomy, prioritisation and decision making for band 7
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Reliable with a good attendance record
  • Demonstrates good clinical knowledge and skills
  • Critical appraisal skills for band 7
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and to meet deadlines

This post is a full time, permanent contract and based at Prospect Park Hospital although we also have inpatient sites in Newbury, Wokingham, Maidenhead and Slough. The postholder will be part of rotation plans which will include covering mental and community health wards, dispensary, medicines information and medicines safety.
