Job description
Overview

This role would suit an Optometrist who has 12 months post-registration experience and holds current GOC registration. You will be willing to expand your horizons and take the leap into the clinical side of optometry. Our Optometrists provide independent eye care and make assessments on the need for cataract surgery ensuring patients understand the risks and benefits and providing reassurance throughout.

If successful, we will support your professional development. We can potentially offer training in YAG laser; this is dependant on the sites activity and what services are offered in the area.

We are looking for someone who can:

Responsibilities
  • Assess and counsel patients for cataract surgery, including discussing expected outcomes
  • Ensure patients understand risks and benefits of surgery with a considerate manner reflecting the patients' needs
  • Provide reassurance from the start to the end of the patient journey
  • Ensure post-operative management is undertaken with the support of medical staff
  • Undertake YAG laser with training
  • As the Clinical Optometrist, you will work alongside a wider clinical team to provide safe, effective, efficient delivery of clinical care. Your key responsibilities will focus on patient centric care, with a focus on providing independent eyecare and make assessments on the need for cataract surgery.

  • A GOC registered Optometrist with at least 12 months post-registration experience
  • Motivated to develop with a keen interest in the clinical side of optometry
  • Good communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of clinical governance and ability to provide the highest quality of care to all patients
