Job summary

Compass is recruiting a Clinical Operations Manager to lead a Derby service as part of a local leadership team delivering early mental health support for children, young people and families. You will shape a values‑led, evidence‑based service focused on outcomes, driving clinical quality and governance while mentoring staff and working with partners.

You will oversee safeguarding, risk management and performance reviews, while supporting workforce development including trainees and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • A core professional qualification in mental health such as nursing, social work or psychology.
  • Postgraduate CBT training or willingness to complete it.
  • At least three years of experience in community services for children and young people.
  • Senior level experience working with emotional wellbeing or mental health needs.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and leadership within a team.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent communication, risk management and organisational skills.
  • A values driven approach to building relationships across teams and agencies.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle or alternative arrangements if you are unable to drive.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor practitioners and manage risk while holding high standards across the board.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support whole school approaches, developing the workforce including trainees and supervisors.

Job description

As Clinical Operations Manager, in our Derby service you will be part of a passionate local leadership team delivering early mental health support to children, young people and families through our Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs).

You will help shape and drive a service that is values led, evidence based and focused on outcomes that matter. Working closely with the Service Manager, you will lead on clinical quality, supervision and governance , ensuring that everything we deliver is safe, consistent and impactful. You will support the service to grow and evolve, mentoring practitioners, managing risk and holding high standards across the board.

You will be a visible, trusted figure within your team and with our partners. You will provide clinical leadership, support whole school approaches and play a key role in developing our workforce , including trainees and supervisors. You will also contribute to audits, performance reviews and service development , acting as a catalyst for positive change.

You will need:
