Job summary

Fairlie Healthcare Group is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Trainer (RGN) to educate nurses and support staff across our complex neurological care services. You will deliver classroom, simulation and bedside learning, assess competencies and help raise clinical standards.

The role combines education, clinical leadership and governance, with opportunities to influence patient outcomes and develop future clinical leaders.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC PIN.
• ITU or HDU experience enabling teaching of complex procedures.
• Experience caring for adults with complex clinical needs.
• Strong knowledge of tracheostomy, ventilation and airway management.
• Experience mentoring or developing clinical staff.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Able to influence practice through coaching, education and constructive feedback.
• Willingness to work towards teaching qualification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality clinical education for nurses and care staff using classroom, simulation and bedside learning.
• Assess, mentor and sign off clinical competencies.
• Support development of newly recruited nurses and career pathways from Care Assistant to RN.
• Deliver specialist training in tracheostomy care, ventilation, airway management, cough assist and PEG care.
• Support governance, quality improvement initiatives through education and practice improvement.

The Role

You’ll work alongside our Learning & Development and Clinical Leadership teams to develop Nurses, Senior Healthcare Assistants and Care Assistants across our services.

This role combines education, clinical leadership, mentorship and governance.

You’ll spend time building and delivering engaging teaching sessions, supporting staff in practice, assessing competencies, identifying learning needs and helping managers raise clinical standards across the centre.

This is a highly visible role where you’ll build trusted relationships while maintaining high expectations for safe, evidence-based practice.

What You'll Be Doing

Deliver high-quality clinical education using classroom, simulation and bedside learning

• Assess, mentor and sign off clinical competencies
• Support the development of newly recruited nurses
• Deliver specialist training in:
• Tracheostomy care
• Mechanical ventilation
• Airway management
• Cough Assist
• PEG care
• Dysphagia awareness
• Complex neurological care
• Support career development pathways from Care Assistant through to Registered Nurse
• Work alongside managers to identify learning needs and improve clinical practice
• Support investigations, learning reviews and quality improvement initiatives where education can improve outcomes
• Help maintain mandatory training compliance and competency standards
• Contribute to the development of new education programmes and clinical resources

About You

We’re looking for someone who is clinically credible, approachable and passionate about developing others.

Essential

• Registered Nurse with a current NMC PIN
• ITU or HDU experience to the level where you can competently teach complex procedures
• Significant experience caring for adults with complex clinical needs
• Strong knowledge of tracheostomy, ventilation and airway management
• Experience supporting, mentoring or developing clinical staff
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Confident assessing clinical competence and providing constructive feedback
• Able to influence practice through coaching, education and positive challenge

We'd love to see

• Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor experience
• Previous clinical education or teaching experience
• Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)

Experience within neurological rehabilitation, spinal injury, respiratory or complex care services
