Job summary
An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Nurse to work in a specialist role within the field of Urogynaecology based at St Peters Hospital.
The post holder will be required to work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team which includes the Lead Nurse for Urogynaecology; Lead Consultant with Urogynaecology Subspecialty training and two dedicated Consultants with a specialist interest in Urogynaecology; a pro-active Women's Health Physiotherapist team and a Community based Continence team.
Experience in either Urology, Urogynaecology, Gynaecology and/or Continence Care is essential to the role but for the right candidate they will receive specialist training both formally through appropriate nationally recognised courses and informally from members of the MDT to reach the full potential of the role .
The successful candidate will need to be confident to work both independently and as part of a team to facilitate a smooth patient treatment pathway.
We are looking for individuals with good clinical interpersonal and communication skills, who are willing and able to adapt to change; and to work individually within their level of competence, after appropriate training if and where required.
The role ultimately will require the individual to undertake nurse-led clinics assessing and managing the needs of women with pelvic floor dysfunction, perform urodynamic investigations and review women following conservative and/or surgical treatments.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be expected to contribute at an advanced level to the specialist urogynaecology nursing service
You will provide clinical expertise in all aspects of care for women with pelvic floor and bladder dysfunction effectively co-ordinating and delivering an expert nursing service within the specialist area.
Provide a nurse-led case-load, ensuring continuity of a high standard of evidence based nursing care, from point of referral through to conservative and non-surgical treatment , out-patient post-operative management and discharge.
This would include management of prolapse with vaginal pessary, bladder retraining, patient education/catheter care, ISC training, TWoC, supporting women undergoing surgery and performing investigative procedures such as urodynamic studies.
