Vacancies Clinical Nurse Specialist (Peritoneal and Renal Community)
We are excited to announce a permanent band 6 clinical nurse specialist position with the Renal Community Team (RCT) and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Team. This is a brand new role within the service!
This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced renal nurse to join a close-knit team to provide care in both the acute hospital and the community for our pre-dialysis and peritoneal dialysis population. The role will be split, spending 3 days per week working as a peritoneal dialysis CNS and 2 days per week as a pre-dialysis nurse within the Renal Community team.
The Renal Community team consists of 6 nurse specialists covering North, East, South and West Devon (including Exeter) and South, West and Mid-Somerset. The Peritoneal Dialysis team consists of 1 CNS and 7 band 3s and assistant practitioners.
The successful applicant must have a passion for peritoneal dialysis, they should be dynamic and willing to try new ideas and different ways of working . They will have support from the other Renal Community Nurses and wider Renal MDT to manage their patients and workload. This role requires flexibility and the ability to work well under pressure.
The role includes working within the PD team to train and support both patients and staff, pre-dialysis education with patients, their families and staff in the community and on the renal ward. Hepatitis B vaccination clinics, advanced kidney care clinics, emotional support to patients, liaising with primary care and running nurse-led local clinics. As this role is new, it is therefore subject to regular review and change therefore we need a dynamic individual to join us and develop this role to help enable us to grow our home therapy patient numbers.

We are looking for an experienced renal nurse to join the Renal Community and Peritoneal Dialysis teams. Previous experience of caring for people on peritoneal dialysis is desirable, as is an in-depth knowledge of all forms of renal replacement therapies. Experience in teaching others would also be highly sort after.
The successful candidate should be an excellent communicator and approachable. They should beorganised and able to work both independently and part of a team.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
-Provide education, information and advice to patients and their families regarding kidney disease and renal replacement therapy options
-Be proficient in teaching others
-A full driving licence and access to a car daily isessential to this role. Unfortunately we are not able to consider anyone without this.
Working Pattern:Monday - Friday 0800-1600
