A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Respiratory/Asthma to manage a caseload and ensure comprehensive care for children. The role involves collaboration within healthcare teams, implementing training programs, and contributing to clinical research. Ideal candidates will have a nursing qualification and strong communication skills. This position is full-time and offers opportunities for leadership and development.
1. Clinical Practice
Manage a caseload, ensuring high standards of evidence-based care, including ordering diagnostic tests and making referrals. Collaborate with ward/clinic staff to provide high-quality care for children and young people, ensuring clear communication and documentation. Assess children prior to biologic administration for severe asthma and conduct community visits as needed. Participate in MDT discussions, coordinate meetings, and represent the service at relevant fora. Contribute to developing clinical protocols to improve continuity and equity of access. Provide support and information to children, families, and professionals, involving them in service feedback and improvements. Work with the MDT to develop transition services for young people with asthma.
2. Leadership and Management
Empower children, young people, and families through support and education. Serve as a resource for community nursing, primary, and secondary care teams. Communicate complex information effectively, maintaining accurate documentation in line with data protection. Follow best practices for asthma management and contribute to the development of the specialist epilepsy service. Support nursing leadership, identify practice improvements, manage risks, and report incidents per policy. Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate and develop services, utilize information systems for audits, and ensure resource efficiency.
3. Education and Research
Provide educational resources to aid informed decision-making. Implement training programmes for children, families, and healthcare professionals. Contribute to nursing practice development and act as a practice supervisor. Attend relevant meetings and promote evidence-based practice and clinical audit. Support research activities, publish findings, and advocate for nursing research to enhance patient care. Work with staff to identify practice improvements and opportunities for better treatment and support.
