Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, appropriately experienced and qualified nurse to join the Hospital Palliative Care Team based in Forth Valley Royal Hospital but working across NHS Forth Valley Hospitals. The successful applicant will be responsible for the clinical leadership of the nurse specialist team for palliative care in this area and work in partnership with others in the continued development of palliative care services.

The applicant must have current knowledge and experience working in palliative care and cancer pathways, end of life care and symptom management strategies. In addition, evidence of further study which would include a non medical prescribing and a leadership qualification would be desirable. The applicant will be able to demonstrate competence across all four pillars of advanced practice

The applicant will possess excellent communication skills and be able to facilitate complex discussions with patients and their families. Furthermore, will be able to demonstrate high level decision making and have an understanding of managing your own caseload and effective team working. There is a requirement to participate in ongoing teaching and audit programmes.

Essential requirements –

  • Registered Nurse
  • Experience as a specialist nurse
  • Post registration education in specialist field
  • Educated to postgraduate diploma and preferably a masters degree in an appropriate subject(relevant to speciality of area of care)
