Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time (37.5 hours/week) Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cystic Fibrosis. We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, forward-thinking adult-trained nurse to join the multi-disciplinary Cystic Fibrosis Centre team based at St Bartholomew's Hospital in The City, London. We provide a high-quality service caring for both adolescents and adults living with Cystic Fibrosis. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cystic Fibrosis (CF), you will work closely with our established multidisciplinary team to develop and enhance a seamless approach to delivering care to our patient group through their lifespan.

Applicants are required to hold a current 1st level registration with the NMC on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register. Previous experience in CF is not essential; we welcome applicants without it, provided they can demonstrate how their previous experience applies. Relevant backgrounds include respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, intensive care, oncology, diabetes, adolescent medicine, high dependency nursing, etc. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience with complex issues related to caring for young people and adolescents across their lifespan. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills are essential.

Main duties include:

  1. Developing, implementing, and evaluating a seamless CF & non-CF bronchiectasis nursing service aimed at improving patient care standards and facilitating multi-professional working.
  2. Working alongside senior colleagues and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate services for adolescents and adults with CF.
  3. Supporting your professional development through formal and informal training, gaining specialised knowledge in genetics, pathophysiology, adolescent health issues, etc.
