Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced nurse to join our busy Cardiology Specialty Nursing team as a Band 6. There is the opportunity to work with neonates, children, and young people with cardiac problems – including structural, mechanical, and electrical issues. We work closely with Alder Hey Hospital, where heart surgery takes place. Additionally, there are opportunities to collaborate with our Specialist Clinics such as Devices, Heart Function, and Pulmonary Hypertension.

The successful applicant will be a valued member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and work within the wider hospital to deliver nurse-led clinics, investigations, treatment, and counseling to children, young people, and their families. The post holder will work within the values and beliefs of MFT to ensure a high-quality, efficient, and caring service is delivered. They will be committed to providing high-quality care and helping patients make informed decisions about their treatment options, guiding and advising them throughout their journey.

The post holder must demonstrate excellent communication skills, working effectively with the MDT and with children, parents, and families. They should be competent and confident in medication management and administration, with clinical skills to support direct patient care. The ability to work well under pressure and experience in service development or supervising nurses are essential. This is a proactive and evolving service seeking individuals with a desire for innovation and service improvement.
