TheUrology Benign Clinical Nurse Specialist is a highly skilled nursingprofessional responsible for providing specialised care and support topatients with benign urological conditions. This role involves collaborationwith a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care, patienteducation, and management of urological disorders. The CNS will utiliseadvanced clinical expertise to assess, diagnose, and implement evidence-basedinterventions tailored to individual patient needs.
Provideeducation and counselling to patients and their families regarding diagnosis,treatment options, and self-management strategies.
Mentorand support nursing staff in the management of urological conditions andprocedures.
Participatein clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patientcare in urology.
Thesuccessful applicant must demonstrate the ability and enthusiasm to developwithin a large specialist nursing team. Asa Urology Benign Nurse Specialist, the candidate will engage in a variety ofcritical tasks focused on patient care and clinical support. Theirresponsibilities include:
-Patientassessment to inform treatment plans.
-Careplan development working collaboratively with the MDT to ensure anevidence-based approach to treatment.
-Patienteducation.
-Monitoringand evaluation effectiveness of treatment plans.
-Researchand quality improvement to improve patient outcomes.

Theapplicant will act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Code ofConduct. Provide a specialist nursing service for patients with Benignurological disease who require support and treatment through the continuum ofcare.

Providingpathway driven care of patients with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms, BladderPain Syndrome, Bladder Stones, Catheter care, Andrology and ongoing audit toinfluence expansion of the service.

Createexchange of learning opportunities within the MDT in relation to evidencebased Benign urological disease care delivery.
AbdominalMedicine and Surgery is a large clinical services unit based at St JamesHospital, comprising 11 in patient wards that look after patients withconditions varying from; urology, gastroenterology, colorectal, uppergastro-intestinal, HPB, liver transplants and renal, as well as acutesurgery. We are also a regional specialist urology center, and the nursespecialists support this by arranging and treating patients through benignurology pathways.

Clinical

Where appropriate to the servicespatient demographic, to developmentally appropriate, young person friendlyhealthcare to support young people; including support for transition, as theymove from childrens into adult services between the ages 11-25 years.
Participates in the setting,monitoring and improvement of standards and quality of patient care.
Undertake clinical procedures wheredexterity and accuracy are required.
Assess, plan, implement andevaluate care and treatments using specialist clinical knowledge and clinicalskills.
Make clinical assessments andtreatment decisions within clearly defined policies and protocols.
Organises own clinical workload.
Undertake duties on wards ordepartments as and when required by service demands or patient need.
Supervise clinical staff to promotethe delivery of excellent clinical standards.
Receives supervision of clinicalcare and outcomes from nurse specialist team leader.

Fulfil the requirements as directedby the Nursing and Midwifery Council to maintain and revalidate registration.
Ensure and promote the maintenanceof a safe, clean and secure working environment.
