The NHS is seeking a full-time Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist for Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome in Leeds. This role involves patient support, clinic management, and leading education programs for healthcare providers, focusing on a complex condition.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals have successfully secured funding for a band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome (APS) from APSSupport UK. We are seeking to employ a full-time Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist for a one-year secondment into this new role within our Trust.
This is the first role of its kind in the region. The Thrombosis team is committed to supporting the development of an experienced and knowledgeable CNS to serve as a point of contact for queries outside clinic consultations for patients with APS. The successful applicant will be involved in redesigning current clinics, which currently cover all complex thrombosis cases, to better prioritize our APS patient cohort. The APS Nurse Specialist will, with initial supervision, run dedicated APS clinics.
The vision for this role is to collaborate with the MDT to provide practical and emotional support, including counselling, literature, and resources to help patients with APS manage this complex, multisystem, potentially life-threatening condition. The candidate will also lead a regional education program for primary and secondary care on appropriate testing for APS, anticoagulation support, and managing complications.
