  • Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a full or part-time RN position. Bonus amount is prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.

With 3,300 babies born each year at Maine Medical Center, we offer an ideal setting to start or grow your Obstetrics/Women's health career! Our Mother Baby unit provides Well Newborn and Women's health care on a 20-bed unit.

This is a full-time, night shift position, working 3, 12-hour shifts per week.

Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values by demonstrating excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family-centered care, community commitment, and accountability. In accordance with national nursing standards and Maine Medical Center and Maine State Board of Nursing policies, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care effects. Care begins with the initial contact and may continue across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current Maine RN license.
  • Experience: Entry-level position; RN experience not required. Perinatal care experience is preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Analytical skills to identify patient condition changes and initiate appropriate responses.
  • All new graduate RNs (<6 months experience) hired into regular positions are enrolled in a 12-month Nurse Residency Program. Exceptions may be considered for RNs with less than 1 year of experience transferring from other organizations or participating in formal orientation programs.
  • Progression to Clinical Nurse II is possible after meeting performance criteria at the 12-month evaluation, per the Clinical Nursing Advancement Program.
