Join our Mother Baby Unit at Maine Medical Center as a Clinical Nurse Manager! We are a level 1 Trauma Center located in Portland, ME. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse to join a state-of-the-art facility working with outstanding nurses and clinical team members while growing into the future. The right candidate must have two to three years of experience, as well as experience overseeing others. Excellent communication skills, team focus, and a patient-centered care philosophy are desired.

With more than 3,100 babies born each year at Maine Medical Center, we are the ideal setting to start or grow your Obstetrics/Women's health career! On the Mother Baby Unit, we provide Well Newborn and Women's health care on our 20-bed unit.

Summary:

The Nurse Manager, in collaboration with the Nursing Director, is the vital link between the mission and vision of Maine Medical Center and the delivery of safe, patient- and family-centered care that is compassionate, evidence-based, and of the highest quality. Reporting to the Nursing Director, this role requires collaboration with staff, physicians, directors, other professional colleagues, and occasionally senior administration, to meet the diverse and continually changing challenges of the healthcare environment. The Nurse Manager must be a creative, autonomous, future-oriented, risk-taking leader who applies nursing expertise, critical thinking, and effective management skills to ensure quality care is provided through satisfied and inspired professionals daily.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Education: BSN required. Master’s preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine.
  • Experience: Two to three years of progressive experience providing care and overseeing others, serving as an effective resource.
  • Interpersonal and management skills to handle complex management problems. Effective communication with unit staff, administrative personnel, physicians, and community members.
  • High level of critical thinking and analytical skills for decision-making at the unit level and departmental considerations.
  • Ability to incorporate teaching principles and counseling techniques to foster staff growth.
  • Strong organizational skills, effective time management, and delegation strategies to rapidly prioritize and adjust workflows based on unit needs.
