Qualifications

Job description

My client is seeking a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join their well-established and well-known office in Bristol.


The clinical negligence team works in line with the firm's values to help injured people get answers about their care, highlight dangerous medical practice, and help put shattered lives back together.


You will have the opportunity to run a complex caseload and assist senior team members on high-profile claims of maximum severity in a well-resourced and well-supported environment.


The Clinical Negligence team is highly ranked in both Chambers and Partners UK and the Legal 500, and several senior members of the team have also been individually recognised by both legal directories for their expertise.


Responsibilities
  1. Running a caseload of pre-action and litigated cases, and delivering excellent client service.
  2. Supporting individual members of the team with progressing casework on complex cases of maximum severity.
  3. Championing the firm's values and actively supporting the firm's objectives.
  4. Conducting and assisting fee earners with the conduct of matters on behalf of clients.
  5. Interviewing clients, taking instructions, and preparing Witness Statements.
  6. Maintaining detailed file notes of instructions received, advice given, and work carried out.
  7. Ensuring all communications are dealt with and maintained in keeping with our case management system.
  8. Progressing matters in a proactive, professional, and efficient manner with the aim of concluding cases efficiently whilst achieving good outcomes for clients.
  9. Carrying out clients' reasonable instructions promptly.
  10. Complying with all appropriate pre-litigation protocols.
  11. Drafting claims and other court documents.
  12. Attending costs and case management conferences and other court hearings on behalf of clients where appropriate or instructing Counsel to do so.
  13. Keeping clients informed as to the progress and anticipated costs of their cases.
  14. Being committed to your personal professional development.
  15. Notifying a Partner of any indication of client dissatisfaction or complaint received.
  16. Dealing with costs promptly at the conclusion of claims, both for the benefit of the firm and our clients.
  17. Participating in team, departmental, and office meetings.
Requirements
  1. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Lawyer or FCILEx, with up to three years' post-qualification experience, with a specialism in clinical negligence.
  2. You will be IT literate and confident using and adapting to new systems and processes. In addition, you will be enthusiastic about business development and eager to use your networking skills.
  3. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge and experience of social media and networking as a business development tool.
