The role
We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Global Health and Ageing Research to join the Global Health and Ageing Research (GHAR) Unit. This post offers up to three years of funded post-doctoral training for an academic physician with expertise in ageing who aims to develop into an established clinical academic in global health and ageing.
What will you be doing?
- Working within a multidisciplinary, international team to deliver high-quality research aligned with the aims of the Global Health and Ageing Research programme, based at Bristol Medical School.
- Providing clinical research expertise into established programmes of work within the Global Health and Ageing Research programme, including in Zimbabwe.
- Developing a comprehensive portfolio of your own ageing research, with national and international collaborations, working towards research independence.
- Applying as PI and Co-I for grants/fellowships to support your research independence.
- Building research expertise through publishing articles in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, presenting at national and international conferences, engaging with communities, and collaborating with colleagues worldwide.
- Ensuring the smooth running of research activities, working with international teams.
- Contributing to the life of the Unit, School, and University, such as speaking at events, participating in committees, and teaching as appropriate.
You should apply if
- You hold a medical degree, a PhD, and an NTN or CCT.
- You aspire to become an independent researcher in global health and ageing research.
- You have experience conducting high-quality research in age-related diseases in resource-limited settings.
- You possess a strong publication record, including first-author publications, in open-access peer-reviewed journals.
- You have contributed to research proposal development and/or supported successful funding applications.
- You can manage your workload effectively, multitasking across different activities and countries to deliver projects on time.
- You are capable of working effectively in a multidisciplinary, international team spanning two continents.
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrating clarity of expression.

- Contract type: Open-ended with fixed funding (3 years).
- Work pattern: Part-time 0.5 FTE.
- Grade: Clinical Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (XCSL).
- Salary: Clinical Lecturer Grade XCLC in the range £44,159 - £81,777 p.a. (pro-rata).
- Clinical Senior Lecturer Grade XCSL in the range £68,215 - £95,511 p.a. (pro-rata).
- School/Unit: Bristol Medical School.
- Shift pattern: 20 hours per week.
