We have a number of exciting and challenging new posts in the Offender Healthcare Service at HMP Wandsworth. This is a unique opportunity to be part of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and to work at one of the largest prisons in the UK. You will assist us in providing excellent primary care and substance misuse services for our population.
Offenders are a challenging population group to work with, often with complex healthcare needs. They may have chaotic lives in the community and a history of poor engagement with healthcare services, with high rates of substance misuse and mental health issues. This role offers a real chance to make a difference.
You will join us at an exciting time, involved in implementing a Health and Wellbeing Model to improve offender healthcare. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team supporting services such as: Primary Care (including First Night in Custody screening, nurse clinics, long-term condition management, health promotion), Inpatient Unit, Emergency Response, and Substance Misuse nursing services. Our friendly team supports you in an environment where no two days are the same.
We are seeking a Band 6 nurse from diverse backgrounds. Experience with substance misuse and mental health issues or within a prison environment is advantageous but not essential, as full training and support are provided.
We will be recruiting for the position of Primary Care Charge Nurse.
Applicants will be required to undertake a numeracy test; only those passing will be interviewed.
