Job Summary

Are you a pharmacist passionate about education and shaping the future pharmacy workforce?

Swansea Bay are proud to advertise a teacher practitioner post for the MPharm programme run by Swansea University Medical School. The role involves splitting time equally between Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) and Swansea University, offering an excellent opportunity for an advanced practice pharmacist to develop an academic career in clinical education.

The successful applicant will lead clinical placement provision throughout the newly developed MPharm programme, supporting undergraduates in gaining competence and confidence in clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical care. They will be an honorary member of the University team, supporting course development, delivery, and assessment, and will play a key role in implementing the GPhC Standards for the Initial Education and Training Standards for Pharmacists, including prescribing and digital competency.

The post holder will join an expanding team of educators within the SBUHB pharmacy division, serving as a role model and champion for education. They will also support other educational programmes, including nursing, foundation, and post-registration pharmacy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will collaborate with Health Board sites, HEIW, and Swansea University to ensure the successful delivery of the Funded Pharmacy Undergraduate Placement Programme (FPUPP) in Wales. They will work across two organizations, contributing to clinical services at Morriston Hospital, including ward-based care, dispensary sessions, and prescribing services, with flexibility on service site contribution.

The role is dynamic, requiring excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills to navigate the evolving educational landscape. Flexibility, teamwork, and adaptability are essential.

Job Description
Responsibilities

The post holder will work with existing and future teacher practitioner roles to ensure smooth programme delivery, with mentoring and development opportunities. They will collaborate across sectors and organizations, including acute and primary care, Welsh Universities, and HEIW, and with other professional leads in medical, nursing, and allied health professions. Welsh language skills are desirable. The role requires working bank holidays, weekends, and out-of-hours as per rota.
