Options for Care is looking to recruit an exceptional occupationaltherapist, with a passion for working with people who have severe and enduringmental health diagnoses, to manage the occupational therapy team and a smallclinical caseload. We require a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide professional support and leadership to our occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and activity workers who are based across our existing mental health inpatient services in Birmingham:

Montague Court is an 18-bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Edgbaston, Birmingham

Dartmouth House is a 16-bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham

Orchard House is an 8-bed residential step-down recovery service based in Erdington, Birmingham; this allows extension of the long-term complex care pathway.

Stanford Court will be a 20-bed male mental health inpatient unit based in Highgate. This will consist of a 15-bed enhanced care service and, contained within the building but outside the main service, five self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment skills in preparation for discharge.

You will manage a small clinicalcaseload comprising of service users from across the organisation, completingassessments, intervention and evaluation of treatment. You will also assist theoccupational therapy team to plan and deliver a range of occupational therapyassessments and interventions promoting recovery and well-being for ourservice-users who are at our hospital sites. You will ensure the therapeuticprogram, including group and individual sessions, is being delivered andevaluated regularly to reflect the needs of the current service-user group.

The MOHOST isestablished as the core occupational therapy assessment tool used across theorganisation, providing evidence of change and focus on occupation. Additionalassessments are completed as led by service-user need.

You will offer clinicalleadership within the multidisciplinary team and represent a senior professionalvoice within the integrated care team. You will work with service-usersdelivering person-centered care, working with individuals towards communityintegration, balancing safety and therapeutic risk taking. You will promote recovery principles with theaim of improving quality of life and achieving maximum independence with eachservice user.
