Job Summary

Water Meadow View is a new mental health inpatient facility for adults with learning disabilities, opening in November 2025 in Whittingham, Preston. We are seeking Clinical Leads to support our multidisciplinary team in delivering outstanding, person-centred care.

Our aim is to provide clinical excellence, support, and safety, with a focus on patient-centred care. The Clinical Lead will be responsible for leading high-quality, compassionate, evidence-based care and enhancing patient experience within inpatient settings, through proactive clinical leadership.

The role includes responsibility for models of care related to Reducing Restrictive Practice, Physical Health, and Positive Behaviour Support, with an overarching trauma-informed approach.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership, excellent communication, motivation, and influence skills, encouraging cross-organizational teamwork while prioritizing patient care. Responsibilities include:

  3. Providing clinical teaching, staff upskilling, and assessments
  4. Involving patients, families, and carers in care planning and delivery

Qualifications (Essential)
  • Registered Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurse
  • RMN or RNL degree
Knowledge (Essential)
  • Understanding of NHS developments and policies affecting service delivery
  • Skills in needs-led assessments for complex presentations involving learning disabilities, autism, and mental health
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (MHA, MCA, Human Rights Act, etc.) and discharge pathways
Experience (Essential)
  • Inpatient clinical experience
  • Assessment and risk management skills
  • Experience working within a PBS framework and across agencies
  • Experience working with service users and carers, and providing clinical supervision
