Job overview

The Senior Healthcare Assistant (Level 3) has a greater degree of autonomy and undertakes a broader range of health and care in accordance with policy and procedures. The post holder will work on their own initiative, undertaking delegated tasks with appropriate supervision in place from a registered practitioner/assistant practitioner.

The post holder contributes to assessment and assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans. They will supervise other staff and promote the delivery of high quality care.

Main duties of the job

We have the below vacancies Available:

  • 15 hours per week in Neath Cluster (Permanent)
  • 15 hours per week in Bay Cluster (Fixed term until August 2025 to cover maternity leave)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 3 Health Care Support Worker to work within the District Nursing service based in the Neath + Bay Clusters.

The post requires excellent communication skills,the ability to work flexibly and team working to provide qualitycare to patients with complex health careneeds within their homes.

The post holder will be required to work a shift pattern of morning and evening shifts to meet the varying needs of the service. You will need to provide a range of skills including delivering care to patients with complex health needs within their homes, supporting patients and their families. Desirable skills include the ability to perform venepuncture, simple wound care and catheter care.

The post requires a close working relationship with the Community Nursing Service to ensure that individuals needs are met as quickly as possible to enable them to remain at home with the appropriate level ofcare and support required.

Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is essential.

  • Evidence of maintaining their personal development

  • Evidence attendance at courses / study days pertinent to speciality
  • Understanding of caring for individuals with particular conditions; for example dementia, mental illness, learning disabilities relevant to area of practice

Experience

  • Significant experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant
