Job description

Specialist nursing and therapyroles are critical to the successful delivery of care within Accelerate. The expectation is that the ClinicalLead for Lymphoedema will lever their passion for their speciality andtheir expert skills in the care and management of complex patients for thedelivery of excellent outcomes for their patients and commissioners. It is alsoanticipated that the post holder will bring better understanding to theprinciples of patient flow, clinical systems and their organisation and staffeffectiveness and efficiency. You will bring creative thinking andinnovation to complex issues, utilising expert skills, risk management andinsight in order to effectively manage a variety of situations borne out ofcomplex psychosocial, medical or organisational need. The abilityto grasp the principles of clinical leadership, understand partnership workingacross a health economy and demonstrate a solution driven mentality areessentials of this role.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Lead is consideredthe expert and will take ownership for the operational delivery of the clinicalservice in the Centre of Excellence and Innovation; with an ability to take apopulation health view rather than a pure individual focus. The post holderwill lead their team to deliver excellent clinical care alongside themanagement of risk and successful deployment of the teams resources. This roleis designed to enable the post holder to take full end to end responsibilityfor the delivery of the outcomes and indicators for a defined contractualbusiness area. Clinical and operational delivery remains core to this role; thepost holder is accountable to the Director of Clinical services for themanagement of the key performance targets.

Working collaboratively with theDirector of Clinical Services for Lymphoedema to maintain high quality woundcare with a focus on extending reach to our patient cohort outside of ourcurrent geographical boundaries.

Job responsibilities
  • The Clinical Lead for the Lymphoedema Team will manage allaspects of clinical delivery in the local health populations. Providing thedelivery and the ongoing development for the lymphoedema services and thepopulation it serves.Specifically, this requires focus on:
  • The continualimprovement of the patient pathway
  • Delivery of apopulation based lymphoedema service; whilst this may primarily focus on lowerlimb lymphoedema/chronic oedema, this expertise and prompt management toinclude all aetiologies of lymphoedema and lipoedema
  • Identificationof and proactive clinical management for all Lymphoedema and specifically thosethat present with complexity and risk
  • Proactivesurveillance of outcomes in relation to timelines to care, prioritisationactivity and clinical performance within contract parameters.
  • Interface withprogramme manager to ensure efficient and effective use of the local dressingoptimisation scheme and compression garment spend within the services
  • Development andmentoring of the Lymphoedema team
  • Optimising service resources in conjunction with the Clinical Lead for Wound Care in relation to lower limb management

Additional responsibilities focus on:-

  • Analysis offootfall of patients within the lymphoedema team in order to stratify andidentify effective use of resources in line with the aligned contract
  • Deliveranalysis of clinical outcomes in relation to lymphoedema
  • Proactive engagement with service partners to continually improve the patient pathway
  • Support the lymphoedema-related education programme collaboratively with the Clinical Lead for Wound Care
