Job summary

The Bladder and Bowel service, formerly known as the 'continence' service, is a specialist team providing treatment to patients with bladder and bowel problems. We are seeking dynamic nurses to join us as Clinical Nurse Leads across our geographical footprint. We welcome applications for full-time, part-time, and flexible hours, and encourage nurses wishing to develop leadership skills.

Our services include specialist nurse-led clinics and training for team members in B&B and across the trust. Based mainly in Brighton/Worthing and supporting teams across the city and South East, our services operate Monday to Friday, with no requirement for unsociable hours, weekends, or bank holidays. You will use your clinical and leadership skills to contribute significantly to our teams and patients.

Full UK driving license is required.

Main duties of the job
  1. Use advanced skills and expert knowledge to assess physical and psycho-social needs, developing therapeutic care plans based on best evidence to improve health outcomes.
  2. Communicate complex patient information to multidisciplinary team colleagues for effective treatment delivery.
  3. Negotiate and clarify roles and responsibilities with patients, carers, and professionals, participating in meetings and case conferences as needed.
  4. Lead the team in delivering best practice across the organisational footprint using clinical tools like bladder ultrasound scanners.
  5. Provide expert clinical care and health promotion interventions.
  6. Identify subtle changes in patient condition, guide the team, and take actions to minimize hospital admissions.
  7. Ensure effective liaison and communication with other professionals and agencies, working in partnership for individuals' benefit.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will lead a clinically effective, cost-efficient service, managing a team of nurses, and ensuring high-quality care and staff development. They will demonstrate comprehensive nursing knowledge, provide direct patient care when necessary, act as an expert role model, and coordinate services to promote health and self-management, liaising effectively with agencies.   • Independent or supplementary prescribing, medication review, and administration.

Experience
  • At least five years of extensive clinical experience.
  • Case management experience.
  • Knowledge of long-term condition care and maintaining high standards.
  • CPD and postgraduate experience (minimum 18 months).
Qualifications
  • RGN registration.
  • Postgraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Advanced Physical Assessment course (Masters module).
  • Willingness to work towards non-medical prescribing qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Masters qualification.
  • Mentoring course or equivalent.
  • Community Nursing qualification.
