An opportunity to become Clinical Lead for Acute Frailty in Older Person Unit (OPU) has arisen. This would be additional SPA to develop and lead the acute frailty service and tackle the challenges this will bring, alongside your clinical time.

Acute frailty is an exciting and dynamic service, in high demand and facing difficult challenges in the current financial climate. We are looking for a passionate, motivated and enthusiastic team player to help shape and deliver the vision for this developing service.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Lead for Acute Frailty will provide strategic clinical leadership and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care within the Acute Frailty service of the OPU. This role is central to the integration of acute frailty pathways, collaboration with multiple stakeholders, and implementation of service improvements aligned to local and national strategy. The postholder will be responsible for governance, clinical performance, service development, workforce planning, and patient experience within the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Frailty Flying Squad (FFS) model, working with immediate colleagues and the wider department to deliver the below.

  • Facilitate performance review of operational metrics and national benchmarking (SAMBA, SAMIT75)

Workforce development

Essential criteria

  • Promotion of teaching and clinical supervision for residents, ACPs and the MDT
  • Evidence of audit, research and quality improvement

Service Development

Essential criteria

  • Evidence of having delivered strategic oversight for services including business cases and resource planning

Financial Management

Essential criteria

  • Evidence of budget management and recruitment and retention of staff
  • Evidence of costing for business cases and delivering against financial objectives
