We are pleased to be able to advertise for this exciting opportunity within the Vascular Studies Unit at The Royal United Hospitals. There is no expectation that candidate will have full experience within the vascular speciality, just a willingness to learn some new skills in a busy environment. Comprehensive training will be provided within the Department.

You will be part of a core team with a diverse role which will include the delivery of Peripheral Arterial Disease vascular assessments, personal care to patients, and supporting Vascular Consultant, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Scientist clinics.

You will work under the guidance of healthcare professionals such as Clinical Vascular Scientists. Previous health care experience is highly advantageous. Manual dexterity and ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential. You will demonstrate care and compassion through good communication, organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist patients to undress and dress as required and provide personal care
  • Assist patients to access and use toilet facilities as required
  • To promote and maintain patient privacy and dignity
  • To participate in clerical duties as required e.g. assist with reception duties including answering the telephone, scheduling inpatient and outpatient vascular appointments and processing generic email inboxes
  • To ensure patient confidentiality at all times, both with written and verbal information
  • Assist in the maintenance of department stock levels
  • Assist nurses and medical staff with sterile procedures and the removal/application of standard and compression dressings as required
  • Carry out ABPI and TBPI assessments for the assessment of peripheral arterial disease
  • Assist the Vascular Consultant with the delivery of varicose vein treatment lists including preparing the room and equipment, and addressing individual patient needs during the procedure
