Applications are encouraged from those currently employed as a Band 7 or qualifying in 2024. You will be supported to develop your skills across predetermined competencies of therapy, supervision, teamwork and leadership. Once you have been assessed as meeting these competencies, you will move to band 8a in the service.
This post includes working sometime in CYP, either a half a day or seeing some cases so maintain skills in this area which can be discussed at interview. Required working days would be Tuesday, either Monday or Friday, other day to be agreed on appointment.
Main duties of the job
Clinical interventions include individual CBT, ACT and mindfulness-based therapy, neuropsychological rehabilitation and specific condition interventions such as for chronic pain. The post will involve close working with non-psychology colleagues from across the MDT. A systematic rehabilitation approach facilitating self-management skills is core to our provision, with the team leading the renowned Stoke Mandeville Spinal Needs Assessment and Goal Planning Programme (finalist for HSJ in 2016).
The NSIC provides inpatient care to 30% of adult spinal cord injuries within NHS England and is the leading provider of paediatric spinal cord injury services. The NSIC at Stoke Mandeville Hospital pioneered the rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injury and the psychology team is an active contributor to the ongoing research and innovation of the Centre, with over 150 publications in peer reviewed journals, textbooks, and an increasing portfolio of research impact including podcasts, policy/guideline development and social media engagements.
