Job summaryThe post holder is responsible for the co-ordination of clinical governance procedures and frameworks within Maternity Services, ensuring systems are in place to manage clinical risk effectively.
The post holder will provide leadership, guidance and expertise within the multi-professional team for Maternity for clinical governance and risk management in line with the Trust-wide framework.
This will include developing and putting in place strategies and frameworks that ensure the Maternity service meets its obligations for Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (CNST), and that it meets the Trust standards for clinical governance including risk management.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will support the review, and dissemination of the Maternity Risk Management Strategy. This involves fostering a culture amongst teams that ensures clinical quality and risk management remains one of the top priorities within the division through:
- enabling all staff to actively participate in identifying, actioning and evaluating all patient safety and risk issues;
- leading and supporting the communication and management of the issues through Datix in line with policy
The post holder will have a unique opportunity to develop the clinical governance role and risk management knowledge both locally and regionally. This will include exposure locally, regionally and nationally through collaborative working in Yorkshire and the Humber to deliver Better Births following the National Maternity Review
The post holder will participate in training and education of staff within Maternity Services engendering a proactive and positive clinical governance culture
