Job summary

Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital is seeking a Clinical Governance Lead to provide strong clinical leadership and governance across the quality of care delivery. Working alongside senior clinical leaders, you will drive quality assurance, data quality and reporting, and support accreditation efforts.

You will be a registered clinician with degree/postgraduate level education in a clinical discipline and hold governance qualifications (e.g., ISO9001 Auditor).

Qualifications

  • Registered Clinician (NMC, HCPC or GPC)
  • Educated up to degree/postgraduate level in a clinical discipline
  • Qualifications in organisational governance e.g. ISO9001 Auditor or equivalent
  • Senior leadership within healthcare with experience in clinical governance and quality assurance
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail, proactive and efficient

Responsibilities

  • Champion the organisation’s brand values
  • Drive continuous improvement of data quality and data analysis capabilities
  • Oversee reporting and escalation processes (Board and Incident Reporting) to guide quality learning and decision-making
  • Lead delivery of Quality Assurance and improvement activity, including systems for clinical effectiveness, patient safety, regulatory compliance, feedback and professional development
  • Lead development, review and oversight of Clinical Policies and SOPs; manage clinical policy catalogue
  • Provide governance guidance to leadership and handle complaints
  • Support accreditation activities (e.g. ISO9001) and quality improvement plan
  • Lead clinical projects and workstreams within remit and participate in strategic negotiations on governance matters

Up To £53,250 Pro Rata, Depending On Experience

As our Clinical Governance Lead at our Shrewsbury Hospital you will provide strong clinical leadership and scrutiny of all matters relating to the Quality of all clinical care delivery. This role will work alongside Senior Clinical Leaders and key stakeholders across the organisation to facilitate clinical excellence, impact and fulfilment of Nuffield Health’s charitable purpose.

You will be a registered Clinician (NMC, HCPC or GPC) and be educated up to degree/post graduate level in a clinical discipline. You will also have the relevant qualifications in organisational governance e.g. ISO9001 Auditor or equivalent. In addition, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate senior leadership within the healthcare sector, with significant experience in clinical governance and quality assurance. You will have excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail and be able to work proactively and efficiently.

As our Clinical Governance Lead, you will:
  • Champion the organisation’s brand values.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of our:

  • Work alongside other Senior Clinical and Medical Leaders, lead the delivery of Quality Assurance and improvement activity, including delivery of systems which support clinical effectiveness, patient safety, regulatory compliance, customer feedback and professional development.
  • Lead on the continued development, review and oversight of Clinical Policies and SOPs, ensuring that the clinical policy catalogue is effectively managed.
  • Provide advice, guidance and subject matter expertise on governance processes to all those involved in the leadership of clinical care, including dealing with complaints.
  • Support the maintenance and achievement of clinical and/or organisational accreditation e.g. ISO9001, contributing to, and facilitating successful certification.
  • Support the delivery and achievement of Nuffield Health’s Quality Improvement Plan, leading on clinical projects and workstreams within remit.
  • As a subject matter expert, contribute towards strategic negotiations on all matters relating relation to clinical governance and Quality assurance supporting the achievement of commercial objectives

Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital

Shrewsbury hospital, ranked as 'Good' in the last CQC inspection, is purpose built and well equipped with 30 en-suite bedrooms, 3 operating theatres, an endoscopy suite, an Ambulatory Care Unit, and a busy outpatients department which includes physiotherapy and diagnostic imaging. Our diagnostic provision includes X-ray, Ultrasound, MRI and CT facilities. We offer the most up to date surgical treatments combined with a warm welcome and a professional and caring service from our matron-led nursing team. We specialise in the areas of orthopaedics, ophthalmology, cosmetic surgery, and women's health, but also undertake general surgery, urology, and interventions for chronic pain management.
