Job summary

Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS Trust is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to work in an inpatient mental health setting. The role focuses on assessments, formulations and interventions within a multidisciplinary team, with a pathway to development across bands 7–8a.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

This post is for a band 8a or band 7-8a developmental role.Are you a compassionate, motivated Psychologist looking to develop your career within inpatient mental health services? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team (MDT) within an inpatient rehabilitation mental health setting for a fixed-term period of 12 months. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and innovative service, providing high-quality psychological care to individuals with complex mental health needs. You will play a key role in assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation, working collaboratively with colleagues to support recovery-focused care. This post is open to newly qualified professionals and students who are due to complete their qualification during this calendar year. Successful applicants may receive a conditional offer subject to completion of training and registration., Psychological Assessments & Interventions: Conduct psychological assessments and deliver evidence-based treatments toindividuals within the inpatient setting, focusing on improving their mental health and well-being.o Collaboration with MDT: Work closely with the MDT to deliver holistic, person-centred care, integrating psychological andsystemic principles to support recovery.o Systemic Approach: Apply systemic knowledge to effectively engage with individuals, families, and teams.o Therapeutic Activities: Contribute to ward-based therapeutic activities and support the implementation of compassionate carepractices.o Supervision & Development: Participate in regular supervision and ongoing training to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.o Reflective Practice: Provide reflective practice, supervision and professional development opportunities to the team.

  • Has, or is soon to complete Doctoral level training in clinical, forensic or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Registration as Practitioner Psychologist with Health Care Professions Council or eligibility to apply once clinical training has been satisfactorily concluded. (Post-holder will be unable to commence work as a Band 7 until HCPC registration is confirmed.), Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi‑media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
